Artistic Practice
Drawing has always been the foundation of my artistic journey, evolving through years of exploration and honing my craft. As a painter, my work is deeply influenced by the Post-Impressionist movement, with a particular admiration for the evocative textures and vivid color palettes of Edouard Vuillard and the profound connection to nature found in Tom Thomson’s landscapes.
My creative process is inherently tied to outdoor excursions and the spirit of adventure. I find inspiration in the raw, untamed beauty of the natural world, which I translate into my compositions. Each piece begins with a journey, immersing myself in diverse environments, observing the interplay of light, color, and form in the landscapes that surround me. These experiences are captured through sketches, photographs, and memories, forming the initial layers of my creative process.
Back in the studio, I utilize photomontage techniques to weave together these collected moments. This method allows me to construct compositions that are not just representations of a single scene, but amalgamations of multiple perspectives and times of day, creating a richer, more dynamic visual narrative. The resulting works are vibrant tapestries that reflect both the serenity and the vigor of the natural world, filtered through my personal lens.
In my paintings, I strive to convey the essence of my adventures, inviting viewers to experience the same sense of wonder and discovery that fuels my creative spirit. Through the harmonious blend of meticulous drawing and expressive painting, my art celebrates the beauty of the natural world and the enduring influence of the masters who have shaped my artistic vision.
